A Letter from Pastor Lonnie and the Elder Board

Dear Church Family,
Hope and pray you all are doing well and have had a good week with the Lord.

As you all are aware, we had a few people come down with COVID this past week, so we decided to cancel our small group ministries throughout the week.  We do plan to gather in His name and worship on Sunday morning. We are having Sunday School 9:15 -10:15 a.m. and worship service from 10:30 - 12 p.m. The nursery will be open on Sunday morning.

When we gather this Sunday, we need to be extra careful in the midst of the surge in covid cases in our city with social distancing and doing some of those things we did before, which include:

  1. When greeting one another, let us avoid hugging and handshakes.
  2. Please use the hand sanitizer when entering the sanctuary.
  3. Please sit with your family but keep distance (keep 4 chairs) between you and another family.  This will allow us the comfort to not only worship together but to stay safe in doing so.
  4. Masks will be available to all that would like to wear them.  This is not mandatory for entering into the facility. All are welcome with or without.
  5. We will be taking temperature readings of every child coming to the nursery and all the volunteers in the nursery.
  6. There will be X’s on certain rows of chairs and we are requesting everyone to please avoid sitting on those rows.
  7. Please, please stay home and worship with us online if you have any symptoms that could be COVID related.  This is where it gets tricky.  We are in allergy season and some allergy symptoms are also COVID symptoms.  When my allergies arise, I take my medicine and it dissipates quickly.  We need to be wise and discerning, continually seeking God for counsel.  The repetitive word God has given me through this season is “Don’t be arrogant but humble. Don’t be fearful but careful”.

Here is what we know: This is a very confusing time for us all.  Even more, the church needs to be the church.  We need to look out for one another and continue to seek the Lord for wisdom to guide and direct our steps.  The two great commandments continue to go out to God’s people: Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.

If you choose to stay home because of being more at risk, we honor your decision and want to help in any way we can.  Please reach out to us and let us know if you have any needs that we could help with. We definitely want you to worship with us online and stay connected by sending in prayer requests you have via our website at www.midlandalliance.church or text me at (432)269-0141.

Blessings in Christ,

Pastor Lonnie and the Elder Board
