Just as we’re experiencing here in the States, much of the world is suffering—job losses, overwhelmed medical systems, supply shortages, economic hardships, and even death. In less developed parts of the world, the situation is especially grim. In one South Asian refugee camp, for instance, an Alliance worker couple reports that with a million refugees crammed together in the camp, social distancing is not an option, and the scarcity of clean water makes it impossible to maintain sanitary conditions. To make things worse, rumors are also spreading that medical workers—who are traveling around the camp to protect people from exposure—are secretly trying to spread the virus.
This is just one of hundreds of challenges your Alliance international workers face during this crisis. That’s why we’re joining together with other Alliance churches in the 2020 Great Commission Day Offering to keep your workers where they are—Caring in Chaos—during this unprecedented time when more people are open to the gospel than any other time in recent history.
We can make a difference by giving to the Great Commission Fund! Sunday, May 31st is Great Commission Sunday, a day in which we collect a special offering over and beyond what you already so generously give to the Great Commission Fund. In years past, we have done a collection of our spare change to give as a special offering for Great Commission Sunday, but because of current conditions, we were unable to do so this year. Please consider giving for this purpose either by clearly designating Great Commission Sunday on your check or online in the giving notes. Thank you for your generosity!
